A great selection of books in two languages by CALEC, Camelozampa, Corraini, De Agostini, Editoriale Scienza, Ilisso Editore, Timpetill, Topipittori were only but a few publishers on display during the EU day of languages. Teachers are always looking for ideas which they can link to their public state and city curricula. A great privilege for us to show NY teachers all these options in Italian.
CEC3 representative Naveed Hasan participated with us to promote the Dowona Initiative.

La crisi sanitaria e sociale creatasi in seguito alla pandemia ha portato alla chiusura scolastica e a forti tagli nel campo dell'istruzione pubblica. Durante la pandemia in partnership con alcune scuole e professionisti italiani, abbiamo creato un canale di risorse su YouTube. È importante - ora più che mai - continuare a sostenere le scuole pubbliche, i programmi bilingue e quelli multiculturali, tramite l'attivismo e la partecipazione ad importanti iniziative. During the lockdown of 2020, InItaliano has published a range of resources and video reads in both languages. We are grateful for the support received from a group of teachers from Italy and we are grateful for the major effort made by NY-based Italian teachers who have been able to offer some continuity to multilingual learners during the school year 2020-21, a year which was marked by closures and re-openings. Several books have been published about family life during the pandemic. US artist Deana Sobel Lederman's reassuring reads offer a terrific opportunity to talk about Covid 19 with your children. All three books have been translated into many different languages and published by Calec. They can be purchased here.

5 June 2018 - With Consul General Francesco Genuardi. A tree was dedicated to Italo Calvino to honour the 61st anniversary of his Baron in the Trees.
How it all started: the first Italian DL in Manhattan's PS242M was announced by the DOE in the early spring of 2018, following a request made by Stefania and Benedetta via the CEC3. The high number of international and Italian families interested in an Italian program in different districts persuaded the DOE to start one on the UWS.
Il giorno dell'annuncio telefonico del DOE: il programma bilingue ci sarà e sarà il primo nelle scuole pubbliche di Manhattan. Siamo in tanti a volere l'italiano a scuola, e risorse essenziali in lingua italiana (ad esempio libri), in molti distretti di New York. Il primo programma bilingue nella scuola pubblica di Manhattan sarà nel distretto 3, Upper West Side.
